Storyteller: TJ

Languages: Mohawk

About the story: TJ shares a story about an eagle who is excluded from playing with friends.

Learn more: In TJ’s story, we learn about the importance of inclusion in the games we play. KILN uses cooperative games as an important language learning tool. Learn how to convert an old favourite, ‘Duck, Duck, Goose’ into Indigenous languages.

When TJ made his story, he was coming his final year of Mohawk immersion at school and was sad to have to go to English school. This story celebrates the power of immersion and we thank TJ for his fluent Mohawk story. TJ and his great aunty Kate teach us how to say some phrases from his story in Mohawk.  A favourite for this project is ‘This is my story.’
